Spree Designer Showcase was founded in the summer of 2004 by Katy Messersmith, a handbag designer of Katydid Collection, and Louise Stein, a jewelry designer of Louise Stein Designs. After traveling to New York and Los Angeles and participating in emerging designer shows, the two realized that Dallas was missing out on these amazing events and decided it was time to fill the much needed niche.

Spree Dallas, LLC was established for independent designers who are interested in the fashion industry and want to get the word out about their goods. (Home decor designers are also welcome.) Designers are chosen to participate in events and promotions by Spree Dallas, LLC and are judged based on designs and products.

Spree events are not craft fairs or bazaars. To qualify as a participant in Spree events, you must design and/or make your product. Re-sellers are not allowed. Spree events are 'retail focused' and open to the public, although wholesale buyers are invited. Events are held two to three times a year in the Dallas area. Promotions are sent out periodically to Spree subscribers in an email newsletter called "Spree Buzz".
